The American Capital State House of Representatives on Friday passed a measure that would do it a felony to steal information from RFID cards.

The measure () would do it a social class Degree Centigrade felony to intentionally plane information from RFID-enabled personal personal identity card game for fraud or identity theft. The legislation, introduced by State Rep. , supplies freedoms for wellness attention givers and exigency responders.

It also do it a misdemeanor for concerns to reserve personal information gleaned from RFID bits without card owners' consent.

The state considered a similar measure last year, but it stalled. This year's version have been streamlined to take into concern relationship concerns of the business community, according to a legislative aide.

The measure removed a proviso that needed all card game with RFID engineering to be labeled so consumers would cognize they incorporate the chips.

Morris, a Democrat, said RFID engineering is utile for concern and consumers, but it's important to do certain consumer privateness is protected as well. He said he introduced the measure to maintain gait with emerging engineering and the challenges it presents.

The House ballot 69-27 in favour of the statute law earlier this week. The measure will travel to the Senate for consideration.

The Golden State State Senate recently approved a measure outlawing skimming as well. That measurement also supplies freedoms for exigency workers, wellness attention providers, and unintentional skimming.
